Werner Eckelt was a German photographer and photojournalist. Trained as a painter and graphic designer at Schule Reimann Berlin (1932-38), Eckelt started in 1930s to document the various facets of Berlin with his camera. After returning from captivity as a war prisioner, Eckelt became a professional photojournalist, capturing the scenes of destruction in post-war Berlin and later workingfor newspapers like Berliner Morgenpost, Welt am Sonntag and Tagesspiegel.
