Espen Tveit was part of the circle associated with the Association of Independent Photographers, which revitalized Norwegian artistic photography in the late 1970s. He participated in the first Spring Photography Exhibition in 1976 at the Oslo Art Association. When the Autumn Exhibition opened its doors to photographers in 1979, he exhibited there. His first solo exhibition was held at the Preus Museum of Photography in 1980, and he had another exhibition there in 1988. He has exhibited at Fotogalleriet in 1986, 1991, and 2010. His most recent major solo exhibition was held at Bomuldsfabriken in 2012.
