Johannes Brus (b. 1942) is a German artist. He works and lives in Essen. From 1964 to 1971 he studied at the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf . From 1986 to 2007 he was a professor at the Braunnschweig University of Art.

Brus works primarily as a sculptor and photographer. He experiments with different techniques, with which he breaks the conventions of the respective genre. Many of his works are characterized by an idiosyncratic sense of humour. Brus addresses aspects of cultural memory and the functions of images.
