Exposed
Nearly 30,000 people visited the Henie Onstad Art Center and the exhibition “Exposed” in 2021: For the first time, a selection from the Møller Collection was shown to the public in a curated exhibition.
Through the exhibition’s nearly 300 photographs, the public was able to experience events and people who have shaped our era, as well as forgotten moments and anonymous passersby. Various genres of photography were represented, ranging from documentary, landscape, portrait, and fashion to more artistic and experimental forms of expression.
Iconic images were displayed alongside lesser-known ones, and taken together, the exhibition offered visitors a broad insight into 170 years of photographic history.

The Henie Onstad Art Center has been focusing on photography since 2017 and has presented several solo exhibitions featuring emerging and established photographers from Norway and abroad. Aars provides financial support for this initiative.
Susanne Østby Sæther served as curator for *Eksponert*, and the exhibition’s title refers both to the photographic process and to the presentation of a private photo collection. One of the goals of the Møller Collection is to increase interest in photography in Norway, and an important step toward achieving this ambition is to make the collection accessible to anyone who wishes to learn about it. In 2021, “Eksponert” was a key contributor to this very goal.
“Eksponert” was on view at the Henie Onstad Art Center from June 23 to December 12, 2021, and more than 30,000 people visited the exhibition during its run.
Also available in book form
In connection with the “Eksponert” exhibition at the Henie Onstad Art Center, Forlaget Press published an exhibition catalog in book form featuring photographs from the Møller Collection. In the book, well-known authors have contributed literary texts, reflections, and commentary on selected photographs, including Lars Saabye Christensen, Suzanne Brøgger, Linn Ullmann, Jon Fosse, Jón Kalman Stefánsson, and Daniel Mendelsohn. Together, the photographs and text enhance one another—in a book whose impact extends far beyond the exhibition.
The book has been published in both Norwegian and English and was nominated for the 2022 “Most Beautiful Book of the Year” award.
